Lykke Li – Sadness is a Blessing

Amazingly beautiful and inspiring…

Here is the new video for the track “Sadness is a Blessing” by Lykke Li. This video is really full of emotions. I like the way they tried to show the gap between the two words of being “normal” and being “free”.

Not that alcohol can make you free but at least, can help going through the social boundaries. It shows as well the paradox of the artist : making life beautiful, making other people’s life interesting by giving them some emotions and at the same time being pulled appart for not being a brick in the wall.

Woodkid – Iron

Breathtaking video! Amazing!

WOOT! Been a long I haven’t been that amazed watching a music video… Like if I  was a child again, completely caught and hypnotized by the beauty of this majestic video…

Listening to the EP “Iron” now, don’t expect to have such a majesty on the other tracks but stil very interesting to listen, something new!

Woodkid is actually the music alter ego of the video director himself Yoann Lemoine.

tUnE-yArDs – Bizness

Finally the video for one of the most amazing band  to watch nowadays!

tUnE-yArDs entered in my watch list at the first second I’ve listened to their music. They are brilliantly creative, come from Oakland (California) and released already a (great) album in 2009: Bird-Brains.

This new track “Bizness” really brings something magic, and when you add the astonishing voice of Merrill Garbus, wow! A nice video, as sweet as the track, with great choreography . Extracted from their second album “w h o k i l l” soon to be released on April 18th.

A video directed by Mimi Cave. Label: 4AD.

Radiohead – Lotus Flower

This is Art, with a big capital A.

Far from the noise of the trends, marketing, education and others brainwashing things… We have here a man, who gets naked in front of us, showing us his feelings and how the music can have the power of moving his whole body. We all have this in us, this is why we dance when we are alone or we sing under the shower. Doing it like this, in public and being such a public figure as Thom York is just beautiful. There must be so much pressure from the society when you are an artist like that and seeing that whatever we say, whoever we are, this Man stays free in his mind and in his behavior. No shades, no layers, no effects; pure intensity and beauty of the Artist getting naked. To me, being an Artist is exactly that : digging into your soul till you find really who you are yourself, what is really inside of you. Whatever you could do, you know this thing is in you, you got it. Finally you can accept it, explore it and show it to the world.

Gil Scott-Heron – Me and The Devil

Beauty in Black and White…

This track is the second of his new album I’m new hereand what a track to start this musical journey! An album I highly recommend of course.

A great video in black and white showing the underground culture of New York which is still living despite of this whole mass standardization we are victim due to the massive marketing done on our societies for decades so far.. A way to show that Gil Scott-Heron didn’t become another T-Pain but kept sticked to his roots and heart.

Video directed by Coodie & Chike and Michael Sterling Eaton.

By the way don’t miss the remixed version of this album by Jamie XX from The XX. Another point of view which deserve your attention.

Fuckin’ amazing music video!

Ahah I think I’m gonna listen to this album all the rest my day… It’s directed by Fluorescent Hill which is an art collective comprised of Mark Lomond and Johanne Ste-Marie. They are based in Montreal but try and kick cinematic ass all over the world! And gosh they do it very well!

This track is just dope, I remind you N.A.S.A stands for North America/South America and is a duo composed of Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon…

Lightspeed Champion – Midnight Surprise

A beautiful story in this full version video of this classic track by Lightspeed Champion…

To be honest, I’ve just discovered Lightspeed Champion thank’s to his featuring on latest’ Basement Jaxx album and god I like it! So I’ve searched for a video of one of his track I could share with you and there it is! It’s more a short film than a music video depicting blindness and incomprehension of our sentiments, a must see.

Harmonic 313 – Battlestar (Feat. Phat Kat & Elzhi)

Harmonic 313 is released on Warp so obviously you can imagine that the video is totally SICK…

And you’re right! One of the sickest video I’ve watched on the net for a long time! Directed by Sixty40 they just wanted to blow your mind with this video. It was shot stereoscopically (i.e. on 2 identical cameras separated in space to mimic 2 eyes) the clip uses a flicking technique that was inspired by 2 frame animations of 3D photos. It gives an exclusive sense of depth, you must see it to convince yourself but trust me, this is not a common video! Oh, by the way, warning: A LOT OF FLASHING IMAGES!
